Terms and conditions

Last updated 14 September 2026

These terms govern your use of GuardMac. Please read them before you buy.

1. Who you are contracting with

GuardMac is provided by FrameLogic Limited ("we", "us", "our"), a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 17193146, registered office 58 Rochester Avenue, Feltham, England, TW13 4EJ. "GuardMac" is a trading name of FrameLogic Limited. When you buy or use GuardMac, you are contracting with FrameLogic Limited.

Payments are handled by Paddle. Paddle.com Market Ltd is the merchant of record for every GuardMac purchase. Paddle handles payment, billing, invoicing, sales tax and VAT, and refunds. Your purchase is therefore also subject to Paddle's buyer terms, which govern payment, taxes, billing and cancellation. Where those terms cover a commercial matter, they apply in addition to these terms.

2. Acceptance

By downloading, activating or continuing to use GuardMac, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software. If you are using GuardMac on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to bind that business. If you are using it as an individual, you confirm you are at least the age of majority where you live and have capacity to contract.

3. What GuardMac is

GuardMac is a macOS menu bar application that monitors your Mac for runaway processes and reclaims disk space, with the aim of not disturbing legitimate work such as running builds. It runs locally on your Mac. It is a maintenance utility, not a backup product, not antivirus, and not a substitute for your own judgement about what to delete.

4. Your licence

When you buy GuardMac we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the software for its intended purpose, on the number of Macs stated at the time of purchase. Activation records a one-way hash of the Mac's hardware identifier so that the licence can be tied to a device and the device count enforced. You may deactivate a Mac and activate another within the limits of your licence.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

6. Intellectual property

We retain all ownership of GuardMac and everything in it, including the software, its source code, documentation, name, logo and branding. Nothing in these terms transfers any of that to you. You get a licence to use the software, not ownership of it.

7. Accuracy of your information

You must give us accurate information when you buy, particularly your email address, since that is how your licence key reaches you. Keep it up to date, and tell us if it changes.

8. Availability and service level

We work to keep GuardMac and its licensing service working properly, but we do not guarantee that they will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that defects will be corrected. The software is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

GuardMac deletes files and can stop processes. You are responsible for keeping backups of anything you care about. Review what it proposes before you confirm it.

9. Payment, renewal and cancellation

Prices are shown on our site before you buy, in your local currency where supported, and include or exclude tax as indicated at checkout. GuardMac is currently sold as a one-time licence, not a subscription, so there is nothing to renew or cancel. Payment, billing, taxes and invoicing are handled by Paddle under Paddle's buyer terms.

10. Refunds

See our refund policy. It forms part of these terms.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to GuardMac and its licensing service if:

Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right. You may stop using GuardMac at any time. On termination your licence ends and you must stop using the software; sections that by their nature should survive will survive.

12. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect, consequential or special loss, including lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill or business interruption; and our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with GuardMac is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.

If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that these terms do not affect.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of GuardMac or your breach of these terms.

14. Changes

We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes to the product or the law. The "last updated" date above shows when we last did. If a change is material we will make reasonable efforts to tell you. Continuing to use GuardMac after a change means you accept it.

15. Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or reorganisation of our business.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EEA you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of, and may bring proceedings in, your country of residence.
